A new CEO at the helm of SLN
The board of directors of SLN, the Caledonian subsidiary of Eramet, has appointed Guillaume Verschaeve as CEO of the company. He is described by the group as "a great connoisseur of the mining and metallurgical industry" having worked 18 years for Eramet and "has notably piloted industrial sites for the production of manganese alloys in Norway, the United States and France".

He thus takes over from Colin McGibbon, who resigned from his mandate to provide "strategy on Eramet’s nickel operations”, the group mentioned in a statement.
In an internal letter, Colin McGibbon recalls that "this year 2020 has been filled with challenges and wishes the continuation of efforts to deliver the rescue plan put in place by SLN, in order to avoid a cessation of payment.” Among the levers of this rescue plan: the fall in the cost of electricity and an increase in ore exports.
"Under the leadership of Guillaume Verschaeve, SLN will continue the momentum started two years ago to transform the company and return it to profitability," said Christel Bories, CEO of Eramet.
A graduate of Polytechnique, the new director of SLN, began his career at Alstom Power before joining the Eramet group in 2002. He has been industrial director of the mining and metals division and director of the group's manganese business unit since 2015.
