It provides a wide range of “datasets” such as monuments classified as heritage, the remarkable trees of Nouméa, fish species identified in the Loyalty Islands, the number of births per municipality, information about the northern tribes, or the figures for mining production at the end of the 19th century. All this information is accessible online and made available on a single website: www.data.gouv.nc

Presented in Nouméa on Friday morning, this “open data” platform is provided by nine partners: the three provinces, the city of Nouméa, the post office, Meteo France, the GIE Serail, the Cafat and the Isee, other collaborations are announced. The topics are classified into sixteen themes and four main categories: geographical, political, social and cultural.

The main objective is to promote transparency and improve the efficiency of public action by publishing the data of Caledonian administrations. Opening up to the private sector is also being considered.
