COVID-19 Vaccine Arrives in New Caledonia
New Caledonia has welcomed the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine onto the island, after 14,000 doses were dispatched by the French Government.
The Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine has been given to New Caledonia for free by the State and is required to be stored at -80ºC Celsius with two injections 21 day apart.
Residents of New Caledonia will be provided the vaccine free of charge, with the most vulnerable groups prioritised for the inoculation. There will be three dedicated freezing chambers located through New Caledonia in the North and South provinces to store the virus, until the vaccination campaign begins.
The vaccination program is in the process of being finalised by the Department of Health and Social Affairs and relevant stakeholders, which will be presented by the government in the coming weeks.
